SINCE 2017

Billy Meeks had a vision of creating a team of highly skilled investigators, combining their experience, talents and resources to become the most capable and effective private investigations firm in Texas. Despite each having a successful company, he convinced the partners that joining forces would benefit clients and improve capabilities. Blackfish’s track record has proven him right. Through investigative collaboration, collective relationship-building, manpower depth and leveraging each other’s talents, we have established a reputation for getting results, and since results matter, Blackfish has become the preferred investigations company in North Texas.

What’s in a Name?

We adopted the name Blackfish for our shared traits of intelligence, strength through numbers, coordinated hunting, specialized communication and operating in murky environments. Intelligence refers to the distilled product of data into actionable information.

There’s no easy answer to this question, because success may look different from one case to the next. What we can say, is that with few exceptions, every case we take on has a better result than it would have without us.

Our strengths lie in criminal defense and family law, but we are also adept at corporate/business issues, insurance fraud, and real estate securities.

Yes. Whether it’s a civil or criminal case, even if you have a great attorney, he can only do so much without a good counter investigation to challenge the opposing party. With us on your team, you can be assured that no stone will be left unturned.

We can be retained by individuals, through their attorneys, or appointed by the court. If retained, and after a consultation, we jointly determine the scope of work, sign a mutual agreement, then collect a retainer to get started. 

We are always looking for talented investigators. The ideal candidate will have ten years of experience as a private investigator, or at least five years as a police officer.  Experience in criminal investigations is a big plus.

Yes. It’s actually illegal for us to reveal our client’s identity, or any of their personal information without their permission.

Yes, that’s one of our most popular services, and one of our partners is a bonafide digital forensics expert.

Lisa Clark is an experienced professional who brings more than 37 years of administrative experience in office management, human resources, and accounting. Lisa conducts the day-to-day administrative functions of Blackfish Intelligence, to include HR policies, maintaining financial records, collections, and payroll.

Mike Haggerty is a certified Criminal Defense Investigator with over 30 years of experience in law enforcement, specializing in criminal investigations of narcotics, gang activities, and fugitive apprehension. His experience includes working on multi-state task forces with the FBI and U.S. Marshals.

Joel Spielman Jr. is a U.S. Air Force veteran, former firefighter, certified Criminal Defense investigator and a certified Forensic Interviewer. In addition to his work in criminal defense, he also is the coordinator for all surveillance operations.

Alondra Banuelas is a U.S. Army veteran and a native Spanish speaker with a Master’s degree in business. She has over a decade of experience in finance where she has been leveraging her language skills by bridging the linguistic gap between languages and culture. She is certified to conduct legal interpretation, translation and transcription.

Matthew Zalewski is a U.S. Army veteran, a decorated former police officer with ten years of experience and a certified Criminal Defense Investigator. He focuses on criminal defense and surveillance with additional capabilities in Open-source Intelligence and Digital Forensics.

Investigator

Casey Clark is a certified Criminal Defense Investigator with 30 years of law enforcement and investigation experience, having investigated hundreds of criminal cases ranging from DWI to felony level assault and fatality offenses. He is certified in Advanced Accident Investigation, and is also a licensed and insured drone pilot.

Investigator

Jordan Oexman has over eight years of law enforcement experience, including the last five as a detective. He is a Cellebrite Certified Operator, and was trained in mobile device examination at the National Computer Forensics Institute, and operated within the U. S. Secret Service’s Cyber Fraud Task Force.

Maddy Wickham is a certified Criminal Defense Investigator with several years of surveillance experience. She is an Open-source Intelligence specialist, and conducts in-depth background investigations. Her focus is on family law and post-conviction work with the Innocence Project of Texas.

Anthony Bejaran is a U.S. Navy veteran and has over twenty-six years of law enforcement experience specializing in criminal investigations and internal affairs. His experience includes supervising a special investigations unit, fugitive apprehension, surveillance operations, and working with the FBI and U.S. Marshals.

Nathan Goldman is a highly skilled private investigator with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in digital forensics from Sam Houston State University. He is also a certified criminal defense investigator. Within his experience, Nathan has investigated a variety of cases including fraud, theft, and infidelity. Nathan is committed to providing the best possible results to his clients.

Delia Rangel has over 10 years of experience in law enforcement and detentions. She is trained in Advanced SWAT and is a certified crisis negotiator. Her focus is on criminal defense, family law, and surveillance.

Trent Forbes, is the Director of Blackfish’s digital forensics lab, and a Certified Mobile Forensic Examiner, Certified Vehicle System Forensic Technician, Operator, and Examiner. With over twenty years of computer security and private investigation experience, he brings a non-law enforcement perspective to our investigations, and his work as a digital forensics expert has been validated through an extensive history of courtroom testimony.

Daryl Parker is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and a board-certified Criminal Defense Investigator with over twenty-five years of experience in military, law enforcement, and private investigations. His work includes high-profile cold-case investigations, and founding a non-profit providing investigative services for potential wrongful conviction cases. He is in charge of the Family Law and Civil division.

JD Spielman is a U. S. Army veteran and a board-certified Criminal Defense Investigator with over 30 years of experience in law enforcement. In 2010 he was selected as the Investigator of the Year by the Dallas County District Attorney, and subsequently became the Deputy Chief Investigator with the Collin County DA’s office. He is currently in charge of the Criminal Investigations division at Blackfish.
